Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs hosted an online quest for the project “Through Equality and Understanding to Protection and Security”. This year the event was attended by 24 teams of higher education institutions of the security and defense sector of Ukraine. The quest is aimed at ensuring the implementation of the principles of gender equality among cadets and scientific and academic staff of higher education institutions with specific learning conditions. The cadets, specialists in the future, will take into account in their activities the knowledge gained during the event.

The work of the teams was evaluated by a competent jury, headed by the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy Kateryna Levchenko. The Rector of KhNUIA, Police General of the Third Rank Valerii Sokurenko, representatives of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission Margarita Vasquez, Expert on Regional Cooperation of the EUAM Regional Office in Kharkiv Solomiia Rozhko, Head of the Gender Equality Department MIA of Ukraine Olha Perunova, Communication Manager of the Center for Gender  Culture Dariia Velyhodska, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Education of Kharkiv Regional State Administration Volodymyr Ihnatiev, Head of the Gender Equality Monitoring and Domestic Violence Monitoring Department of the Human Rights Department of the National Police of Ukraine Olena Dashutina, Representative of the Public Expert Council on Gender Issues inter-factional deputy association “Rivni Mozhlyvosti”, “Security and Defense Sector” Group Tetiana Baeva, Human Rights Specialist of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine Serhii Shtukarin, Head of the Women's Information and Consulting Center Olena Suslova are among the members of the jury.

At the first stage of the competition in terms of the number of video likes on the Youtube channel, the first place was taken by the team of the National University of Civil Defense of Ukraine, the second place – Lviv State University of Life Safety, the third place – Kharkiv National University of Air Force named after Ivan Kozhedub. Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs became the leader in the number of views.

The team of the Military Institute of Telecommunications and Information Technologies named after Heroes of Kruty performed the best and faster online test tasks of the gender quest.

The first place in the exciting fight with a minimum gap in points was won by the teams of: Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, Donetsk Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Military Institute of Tank Troops of NTU “KhPI”. The second place was taken by the National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine named after Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, the National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine, Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs and Zhytomyr Military Institute named after S. P. Korolov. The third place was shared by the Institute of Naval Forces, Higher Vocational School of Lviv State University of Life Safety, National University of Civil Defense of Ukraine, Kharkiv National University of Air Force named after Ivan Kozhedub and Kremenchug Flight College of KhNUIA.

The jury mentioned  the teams of debutants of the gender quest: Cherkasy Institute of Fire Safety named after the Heroes of Chernobyl NUCD of Ukraine, Higher Vocational School of Lviv State University of Life Safety, Military Law Institute of NLU, Institute of Public Administration and Research in Civil Protection,  Navy Institute, Lviv State University of Life Safety, Military Institute of Telecommunications and Information Technologies named after Heroes of Kruty, Odessa Military Academy, National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine named after Bohdan Khmelnytskyi.

The jury singled out the teams for their innovative approach to the presentation. The teams of Sumy branch of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Ground Forces Academy and National Academy of Internal Affairs are among them.

Olha Perunova, the Head of the Gender Equality Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, presented special gifts to the Military Institute of Tank Troops of NTU “KhPI”, the National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine named after Bohdan Khmelnytskyi and the Higher Vocational School of Lviv State University of Life Safety.

Teams will receive personal gifts from the Head of the Women's Information and Consulting Center Olena Suslova in the following nominations:

“For the conquest of all 4 elements” – National University of Civil Defense of Ukraine, Kremenchug Flight College of KhNUIA, Institute of Naval Forces, Military Institute of Tank Troops NTU “KhPI”;

“Conquest of hybrid elements” – Military Institute of Telecommunications and Information Technologies named after Heroes of Kruty;

“Measurement of Gender Equality” – Donetsk Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Also in her speech, Olena Suslova drew attention to the use of the information obtained in the educational process.

Kremenchug Flight College of KhNUIA will receive a gift from the Center for Gender Culture for the video essay.

The winning teams will be awarded with gifts from the EUAM, the Gender Equality Monitoring and Domestic Violence Coordination Division of the Human Rights Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

The event gave both participants and members of the jury a good mood and positive emotions.
