Head of the Communications Department
Koval Mykola Viktorovych

The Communications Department organizes its work in cooperation with all divisions of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs in accordance with long-term and current plans. The employees of the department carry out a set of measures aimed at implementing the university's information policy, taking into account the requirements of the legal regime of martial law, forming a positive image of the police. To ensure prompt information to the population about the life and activities of the university (official meetings, meetings with veterans, scientific conferences, lectures, conversations, excursions, amateur concerts, sports competitions, etc.), the department organizes the interaction of the university with electronic and printed media, ensures the participation of the management and employees of the higher education institution in live television and radio programs, as well as in briefings, press conferences, round tables, online communication with citizens, etc. on current topics of today.

In order to promptly disseminate information about the university's activities, all information resources of the police university are used to publish materials on its external website; materials on the university's activities published in the media are monitored. The department's employees participate in the preparation and distribution of informational and promotional printed materials that popularise the university's activities. In 1998, the university launched the newspaper “Serving the Law”. Its publication was suspended several times. In November 2012, the print edition was resumed. Due to the Russian Federation's military aggression against Ukraine in March 2022, the newspaper's publication was suspended again.

Much attention is paid to the production of our own video production. The department's employees prepare not only video clips for distribution on regional TV channels and the university's website, but also create educational, image films about the university, advertising and thematic videos, etc. There is a stationary exhibition of photographs - military and national-patriotic in nature, covering events of university life. The Communications Department employees develop designs and produce image products - magazines, newspapers, calendars of various formats, booklets, which are distributed during international, career guidance, educational and other events.

For future applicants, the “Applicant” section on the university website has been created and is constantly updated. Information about KhNUIA is also provided in the directories for applicants, and the university’s admissions office has a telephone line that allows future applicants and their parents to promptly receive qualified and reliable information about the higher education institution.

The department’s employees are members of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, have higher education and experience working in the media and in practical departments.

Since the first days of the Russian war against Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022, the university, together with the entire media community of Ukraine, has been maintaining an information front. The highest priority is information aimed at preserving human lives, psychological balance in society, revealing national and military-patriotic feelings, and cultivating unshakable faith in Victory.

The consequences of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, the damage caused to Ukrainians, and ways to help Ukrainians who found themselves in difficult life circumstances as a result of military operations became the topics of numerous meetings, teleconferences, and radio programs held in different parts of the world with the participation of university employees. Among them, for example, was the speech of the Head of the Research Laboratory of Social and Psychological Support, Assistance and Rehabilitation of MIA Employees of the Educational and Research Institute No. 3 (Training of specialists for preventive activity units of the National Police of Ukraine) Oleksii SERDIUK during a teleconference with high school students of Altamont School and their parents on the air of the American radio Viewpoint Alabama, USA.

One of the main communication platforms in the European Union has become the Polish media, with which the Head of the Center for Ukrainian-Polish Development of KhNUIA Mykola PAKHNIN actively cooperates. Comments in Polish about the situation in Ukraine and the fight against Russian aggression have been repeatedly heard on the air of information programs of the radio station "TOK FM", which is the most popular talk radio station in Poland with an audience of up to 17 million listeners, "RMF", "Polskie Radio 24", on the television channels "TVP Info", "TVN 24" and in the popular local media in the Greater Poland Voivodeship "WuTK".
