The university has received confirmation from the US Embassy in Ukraine that its application to participate in the Virtual English Language Educator Program, a US State Department scholarship programme, for the 2025–2026 academic year has been successful. KhNUIA has become a participant in a programme funded by the United States government. The programme provides online English language courses for two groups of cadets, as well as consultations for teachers and other representatives of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs whose work is related to English, with a total workload of up to six academic hours per week.

In accordance with the terms of the Programme and based on the results of the selection of teachers by Georgetown University in the United States, the Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine invited Ms. Bonny BRAWNER, an American English teacher.

The online coordination meeting allowed the authors of the successful application – Tetiana MATIUSHKOVA, Head of the International Cooperation Department, and Olena STATIVKA, Head of the Language Training Department – to discuss with representatives of the US Embassy in Ukraine the plan and schedule for virtual classes for cadets and teachers for the autumn semester of 2025, as well as the specifics of communication, reporting and evaluation of the project's success. The event was attended by Jen MacArthur, Director of Regional English Language Programmes, Liliia SHYLO, English Language Coordinator of the Public Diplomacy Department, and Bonny BRAWNER, Virtual English Teacher.

The foreign coordinators congratulated KhNUIA team on the launch of the project, thanked them for their cooperation, and noted the positive impact of the programme on the effectiveness of its participants. Jen MacArthur outlined expectations for professional support, coordination of plans with the teacher, monitoring of class attendance by participants, and ensuring the implementation of the project.

The participants expressed confidence in the success of the project and agreed to facilitate classes within the Programme, taking into account the special conditions of study at KhNUIA as a higher education institution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The university community of KhNUIA sincerely thanks the US Government and the US Embassy in Ukraine for their support aimed at promoting the English language and developing international educational partnerships of KhNUIA, and also welcomes Bonny BRAWNER to her responsible role as a virtual English teacher. https://univd.edu.ua/uk/news/25122
