This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs during the online conference "Digital Transformation of the State: Prospects and Risks of Cyber Security". Arsen Avakov said that the number of cybercrimes had increased 2.5 times in the last 5 years, and cyberspace had become the fifth battleground.

“Unfortunately, Ukraine is at the forefront of this new war. Aggression by the Russian Federation occurs not only in the form of hostilities, information campaigns and economic sabotage, but also in the form of brutal cyber warfare,” said the Minister.
Arsen Avakov stressed that in order to combat cybercrime and hybrid threats effectively, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is initiating the creation of an integration platform on the basis of a global center for cooperation in cyberspace, which will unite all key players and ensure maximum synergy and efficiency of the Ukrainian safe cyberspace ecosystem and strengthening the system of National Security of Ukraine as a logical consequence.
"In our opinion and taking into account the requirements of today, cybersecurity units should be created in every government agency and institution. In addition, cyberpolice is moving to a new level and its activities, in addition to the direct fight against cybercrime, will be aimed at: detecting and predicting possible cyber threats, including the use of artificial intelligence; providing information and advisory support to partners; elaboration in international cooperation of a mechanism to counteract existing and potential threats, including global ones,” the
head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized.
Separately, the Minister of Internal Affairs noted that this year, the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine neutralized a criminal group that used cryptocurrencies to legalize more than $ 40 million obtained by criminal means; stopped the activities of a hacker group whose members created malicious software, interfered in the work of banks, stole and legalized funds; liquidated a criminal group that interfered in the work of electronic systems and databases of government agencies, illegally collected information with limited access (personal data of citizens, confidential information of financial and economic activities of individuals and legal entities) and sold it on various web resources.
“We are now announcing a new recruitment to the Cyber Police - inviting bold, bright, motivatedand, creative - those who are ready to fight and defend Ukraine!
We must become a "team of teams" that will be a powerful partner of the global community of secure cyberspace,” said Arsen Avakov.
