Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs visited by the Head of the Department of Cooperation with Communities of the Department of Prevention Action of the National Police of Ukraine Maiia Breslavska, ІСІТАР Police Reform Adviser Aleksandre Bolkvadze, ІСІТАР Vocational Training and Training Coordinator Olena Tsvitok, ІСІТАР Vocational Training Coordinator Oleksandr Kuzmenko.

The purpose of their visit was to communicate with the management of  Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs and discuss issues of cooperation, including training of community police officers at the university.

International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) provides technical and advisory assistance to the Community Police Officer project. This is a new level of communication and police service. Each community will have its own police officer, who will be available to the public and will always be close to the residents of the local community. One of the main priorities of the prevention police is police officers’ training  in working in local communities.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, Police Colonel Dmytro Shvets spoke about the structure of the university, its main activities, outlined the university's priorities and readiness to learn new standards in the police officers’ training, and expressed readiness to cooperate with ICITAP.

The guests presented the activities and main directions of the project, discussed aspects of police training and willingness to assist in its implementation.

After that, the guests were acquainted with the territory and training facilities of KhNUIA in order to providing trainings for community police officers at the university.
