Since the establishment of the National Police of Ukraine and the beginning of permanent reform of the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, a number of important steps have been taken to bring the organizational structure and legal status of the National Police in line with European standards and norms. However, serving the interests and needs of society and the state remains a priority for the Ukrainian police.

Today, in order to prevent and stop administrative offenses and crimes, protect the lives and health of citizens, the interests of society and the state from unlawful encroachments, guided by the Law of Ukraine "On National Police", Art. 26 of the Law of Ukraine "On Local Self-Government in Ukraine", the Decree of the President of Ukraine "On measures to ensure the personal safety of citizens and combat crime" from May 2019 in Ukraine (Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Rivne, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi and Cherkasy regions) All-Ukrainian project "Community Police Officer". It is aimed not only at improving the interaction of law enforcement agencies with individual citizens, local authorities and local governments, but also at the perception of the National Police of Ukraine in small towns and villages, enabling citizens living in remote areas to receive quality police services as well as to improve policing.

Conclusion. From the above we can draw certain conclusions.

First, the project "Community Police Officer" is promising, because the positive results of community police officers, on the one hand, will help to establish close cooperation between the police and the united territorial community, the implementation of its needs in all regions of Ukraine, and on the other hand, it will have a positive impact on the level of public confidence in the police and increase the efficiency of policing in general.

Secondly, we take into account the fact that the success of the project "District Police Officer", as well as other projects currently implemented by the National Police in conjunction with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, depends on many factors, the main of which are: rapid adoption of a separate regulation, which would properly regulate the legal status and activities of district police officers; improving the current mechanism of regulatory and legal support for the functioning of bodies (units) of the National Police of Ukraine in accordance with the requirements of society and the realities of today; improving the system of selection for service in the police, training of highly qualified personnel for preventive police units who will become professionals in their field, working in communities.
