Representatives of the "Equal Opportunities" team of KhNUIA took part in the round table "Women of Kharkiv Region during the War" to celebrate the Women's History Month and the International Day for Women's Rights and Peace as part of the Coalition "Kharkiv Region 1325" holding a number of diverse events dedicated to these dates. Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs was presented by: candidate of sociological sciences, associate professor of the department of socio-economic disciplines, author of the courses "Sociology", "Tolerance and non-discrimination in police work", "Basics of gender policy" Nataliia Bobro and specialist of the department of international cooperation, coordinator of projects of the Science Park "Science and security" Nadiia Serhiienko.
Once again, the event united more than twenty organizations – permanent participants of "Kharkivshchyna 1325" Coalition: local authorities, higher education institutions of the security and defense sector, charitable foundations, public associations. The meeting took place on the basis of the Center for Gender Culture with the assistance of the world leader in the fight for gender equality, the UN Women Structure, the UN Population Fund, the "EU4Recovery – Community Empowerment in Ukraine" Program. The moderator of the event – Tetiana Chernetska, project manager of the Gender Culture Center – offered to discuss the issues faced by the women of the Kharkiv region and advocacy companies within "Kharkivshchyna 1325" Coalition.
A wide range of lively discussed topics found a response from all members of the Coalition: overcoming the humanitarian crisis, prevention of various types of violence among the most vulnerable categories of the population, problems of mobility and communication of disabled women in the de-occupied territories, availability and availability of drug treatment for HIV-positive and representatives of the LGBT community, rehabilitation of female veterans and their family members, care for burnout of volunteers and specialists, etc.
The special guest of the round table, Mr. Fatih Resul Kilinch – knowledge and data management analyst, UN-Women, PhD – noted the contribution of women's organizations to humanitarian response, reported on the successful implementation of last year's advocacy campaign, on the provision of consultations in communities of Kharkiv region, including de-occupied , expressed his gratitude to the organizations and assured that the plans of UN-Women include maintaining the successful activity of communities in the future.
Participant of the working group Nataliia Bobro, together with her colleagues from the National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine and the National University of Civil Defense of Ukraine, familiarized those present with the results of the sociological study "The monitoring of realization of the Regional Action Plan for the Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 "Women, Peace, Security"" on the period until 2025 in Kharkiv region in terms of taking into account the needs of female officers of the security and defense sector educational institutions of Kharkiv region. The study was conducted with the aim of identifying gaps in taking into account the needs of the labor system of the specified category of women.
Based on the results of the study, recommendations were made to the management of each involved higher education institution regarding the improvement of the system itself and for the further updating of the Regional Plan of Measures for the Implementation of NAP 1325 "Women, Peace, Security" for the period until 2025 in Kharkiv region against the background of the destruction of civil infrastructure facilities by Russian troops and war crimes against women, including the use of sexual violence as a weapon.
Based on the meeting results, recommendations regarding the next actions and steps within each individual organization were developed. Future events planned by the Coalition and scheduled to take place during the month were also announced to those present.
