The Institute trains future investigators and interrogators for the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The Institute includes 3 departments: criminalistics, forensic medicine and psychiatry; criminal process; criminal law and criminology and also research laboratory on crimes’ prevention and investigation. The training process is provided by 34 doctors and candidates of science. The work on correspondent organizational and methodical materials elaboration is actively conducted.

The leading staff of Regional Departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine appreciates the training level of the Institute’s specialists. The future officer of internal affairs bodies must be a physically developed, welleducated and cultural person. Cadets of the Institute are the members of scientific societies, groups of amateur talent activity, sport groups, are the winners of numerous art contests and festivals.

Successes of the Institute and the University were reasons for the leading staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to give the Institute status of basic establishment for training investigators and interrogators within the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Special detective units play an important role in combating crimes. They are united in criminal police unit. Specialists for these units are trained at the training and scientific institute of criminal police. It trains specialists by the specialties “Law”, “Finances and Credit”, “Accounting and Audit”.

Graduate students of the Institute work in crime detection subdivisions, in subdivisions combating drug trafficking, subdivisions of criminal police on juvenile crimes; subdivisions of Interpol with future opportunity to take part in UN peacekeeping missions; special departments fighting against economical crimes and departments of financial and economical resources and economy.

The training process in the Institute is provided by high qualified specialists in the sphere of law and economy. The scientific and pedagogical staff actively implements new technologies into training process. 3 doctors, professors and 26 candidates of science work at 5 departments of the Institute.

Training and Scientific Institute of Public Order

In order to provide effectively public order in Ukraine it is necessary to improve professional level of police officers keeping public order. These specialists are trained at the training and scientific institute of public order. It trains specialists in qualified degrees:

  • “bachelor” (study duration – 4 years, form of study – full-time, specialization – administrative and legal) by the specialty “Law” on the basis of secondary education for subdivisions of public order of internal affairs bodies, for special subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine “Berkut”, “Grifon”, licensing departments, traffic police, passport and migration service.
  • “master” (study duration – 1 year, form of study – full-time, specialization – scientific and pedagogical) by the specialty “Law enforcement activity” on the basis of qualified degree “specialist” or "bachelor", training scientific and pedagogical staff for higher educational establishments within the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

There is a research laboratory on crime prevention problems and community policing in the Institute. Legal clinic also works actively in the Institute.

Training and Scientific Institute of Psychology, Management, Social and Informational Technologies

In the conditions of scientific and technical progress significance of informational, technical, psychological subdivisions and subdivisions which also provide community policing increases. The training and scientific institute of psychology, management, social and informational technologies trains specialists by the specialties “Law”, “Sociology”, “Systems of technical information security”, “Computer sciences” and “Psychology”.

The training of future specialists by these specialties is provided by high qualified scientific and teaching staff of the Institute’s departments, where 6 DSs and 38 candidates of science work. There are 2 research laboratories – on statues and other bills elaboration and on staff, sociological and psychological work in law enforcement agencies.


Training and Scientific Institute of Part-Time Studies and Distance Learning

The training and scientific institute of part-time studies and distance learning trains specialists who have full higher education by the direction “Law“, specialties “Law”, “Law Enforcement Activity”, specializations “Investigative and Forensic”, “Administrative Law”, study duration – 3-5 years depending on basic education.

The training process in the Institute is provided by doctors and candidates of law, pedagogical, philological, philosophical, economical and historical science working at University departments.

The collaboration with law enforcement subdivisions, agencies, besides, with the main investigative department and the department of public order of Kharkiv region and also with the leading universities of Ukraine and CIS which train part-time students forms an integral part of training process of the Institute.

One of the most difficult and complicated tasks connected with training specialists of different qualification degrees, directions and specialties for national economy on contract form is realized by the Training and Scientific Institute of Law, Economics and Sociology.

    The institute trains specialists by the following qualified degrees:
  • “bachelor” on the basis of full secondary education on full-time or part-time bases in law, psychology, sociology, finances, accounting and audit, the systems of technical information security, computer sciences;
  • “specialist” on the basis of higher education with the “bachelor” degree according to the program of full-time or part-time studies in specialties: law, psychology, sociology, finances, accounting and audit, informational controlling systems and technologies, information with restricted access security and automation of its processing;
  • “master” on the basis of higher education with the “specialist” qualified degree in the following specialties: law enforcement, finances, informational controlling systems and technologies, psychology, social work.

There are 19 departments and one research laboratory on scientific organization of training process in the structure of the Institute.

May 6, 2001 Kirovograd branch of the National University of Internal Affairs was created, in August, 2003 it was reorganized into Kirovograd Law Institute of the National University of Internal Affairs.

During this period of time the Institute conducted work connected both with training and bringing up future police officers and formation of higher educational establishment itself. The organization of specialists’ training at the University corresponds entirely to the adopted educational demands and is close to international standards.

The guarantee of training process quality is a high qualified scientific staff, 70 % of them have academic degrees and academic ranks, 5 Ph.D.s and 39 candidates of science. All necessary conditions for scientific potential improvement are created in the Institute.

Nowadays over 1400 cadets, students study at different departments of Kirovograd Law Institute of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, 730 cadets among them study on budget form.

Kirovograd Law Institute has its own sport achievements and takes part in regional, All-Ukrainian and international competitions.

Kherson Law Institute of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs is a modern higher educational establishment on training specialists for subdivisions of internal affairs bodies of Ukraine.

Since the time of foundation till nowadays the leading staff, the scientific and pedagogical staff, technical personnel have been making efforts to create proper conditions for teaching and studying. Nowadays 1720 cadets and students study in the Institute. The training process is provided by 3 faculties and 16 departments where 5 DSs, 4 professors, 36 candidates of law, 22 associate professors, with a high level knowledge and experience of work both in law enforcement agencies and in the sphere of education work.

During the time of existence leisure organization, legal clinic, center in law assistance to citizens were set up in the Institute.

Scientific and pedagogical staff of Kherson Law Institute of KhNUIA makes all their best to enrich the personnel of independent Ukraine who will work on such principles as rule of law, enhancement of legal guarantees for protection different population groups, enhancement of legal awareness and legal culture of population.

Sumy branch of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs trains specialists by the specialty “Law” on full-time and part-time basis.

The training process is provided by law sciences department, humanities department and social and economic disciplines department.

Each year the educational establishment graduates high-qualified specialists who work then in law enforcement agencies including justice agencies, courts and public prosecutor`s office of Ukraine.

The library with its 62 thousand copies is the proud of Sumy branch. There are three reading halls in the library: general, serial publications and special.

The students are provided with manuals and tutorials according to modern demands.

Legal clinic has been working since 2005. Here students can obtain practical skills providing free legal services to citizens.
